Fees are project-based: a defined scope, a defined timeline, a clear fee agreed in writing before work begins. There are no open-ended retainers and no percentage-of-funds-raised arrangements. The AFP Code of Ethical Standards prohibits fundraising fees tied to gift amounts, and Steven operates by that standard.
Steven represents your organization, not his firm. In donor conversations, he is introduced as a member of your fundraising team. The level of transparency is up to your organization, some boards prefer full disclosure, others don't. Steven follows your lead and your organization's values on this.
